Re: Jesus/Yeshua

Hi Cherie, She believes that all Christians should be Torah observant, because although we are not Jewish, God would not treat His 'adopted' children any differently to the Jews whom He made a covenant with. This is surprising to me, although perhaps the norm in Messianic Congregations. I have had a...

Hello, Thank you, Athol, for the input. It gave me some bits with which to begin. I have always known that Jewish teaching and thought about the Messiah has multiple facets, but I am wondering if the topic is more complex than I have thought. As an example, it seems to be that the Baal Shem Tov enco...

to me such a letter displays a good intent but is meaningless in the best of cases and even potentially dangerous. Of course everyone wants peace. ... This is why Messianic Jews are growing, while the traditional Christian denominations are dwindling and disappearing. But nobody seems to notice the...

Hello Ariel, Yes, it might be a good question for Athol. I don't even know where to begin to look into it. As far as your question goes, he seems to be back down undah and apparently, as far as my limited knowledge takes me, is in grand spirits. Although it seems that he may have forsaken those of u...

Jewish Visions

Hi All, I was thinking today of Saint Paul and his vision of Jesus. I am wondering if there are other known cases of Jews throughout history who have spoken about visions of the Messiah (whether known to be Jesus or identified as the Messiah in general). I would be interested to know. In Christ, Had...

Re: Jesus/Yeshua

Hi Cherie, I don't know who's participating on the forum at this moment. People are busy, traveling, etc. So I thought I'd just offer my little bit on this topic. Someone else might have another perspective on this. Quite honestly, I think we'd have to say that the Greek version overtook because the...

Hello Ariel, Also most Catholics really don’t have a clue about these issues... LOL! Don't get me wrong, it's a good-natured sort of laugh! So my choice is to be either insensitive or clueless. OK, I am resigned. I think I'd choose clueless over insensitive any day :-). The main reason for the Passo...

Interesting Article

Hi All, Marilyn Prever has a feature (it's the cover story, actually) in Touchstone magazine this month entitled "Wise Blood: Reflections on Modern Women and Levitical Laws of Ritual Purity." It raises some interesting points on which women might want to reflect. Just pointing it out; unfo...

Yes, I understand somewhat...

I remember reading something, I think by Abraham Joshua Heschel:

"The gravest sin for a Jew is to forget what he represents."

Would you agree with that? Is that something you could expand on a bit, in whatever way you think appropriate?

Dearest Athol, Of course... I think that it would be horrible to be a married Jewish woman, to come to belief in Christ, and to have my entire world potentially turned upside down if I professed that belief. I do understand in part, but I have been struggling to really grasp the complete rejection o...

I would say it definitely is a strong Catholic tradition almost being a Catholic doctrine (some believe it is a doctrine)." I disagree. We can leave it at that... Hadassah I am finding myself being very irritated by your questions about secret Jews- i am wondering why that is so. I realise it ...

Actually Catholic tradition teaches that the real Elijah and Enoch will come back before the Second Coming so the place of Elijah in the Seder is still appropriate. Well, perhaps some Fathers mention this, but I don't think you can say that "Catholic tradition teaches that" this will happ...

I just caught a glimpse of Ariel's comment. I didn't do it :-). And I probably didn't vote "good" for the same reason that Athol voted "good" (who knows), but we'll leave that alone... However, I think it's actually an interesting question. Maybe overdone, eh, because it seems to...
