hi Mike, thanks for your post. It is true that some Jews (mostly Haredim or ultra-orthodox) oppose the current state of Israel - even those who live in Israel now! Some of these groups, like Neturei Karta, are considered to be fringe extremists (their representatives even met with the president of I...

Welcome Lynda!

I am in the happy middle - having just flown from Jerusalem to Rome... a mild 13 degrees here (celcius of course)!

At this time we don't have a policy against fundraising pleas on the forum, as long as these are from legitimate organizations, compatible our mission, reasonably discrete and not 'pushy'. Please report any abuse to the moderator or to myself.

hi Cherie, I thought the linked article is very wordy but does not say much. Basically the simple answer is what I have said in my last post: Jesus just comes from the Greek form Iesous in the New Testament. Call him Yeshua if you like - that is his original name. But I personally think there are mo...

I believe Athol is the specialist of the Great Monarch.

Where is Athol anyway? Are you still moderating the forum Athol?

The idea that the name "Jesus" comes from Zeus is total baloney.

As the linked article says, Yeshua simply is "Iesous" in Greek (and in the NT) and from there it was passed on to Latin/European languages.

never heard about this. What is the source? Such theories should be based on concrete facts to even begin talking about them.

It sounds like a total fabrication. Plus the Passover lamb was only kept for 4 days, not 14 (from 10 Nissan to 14 Nissan), Exodus 12:1-6

Note to all

An important note regarding Hammer's note above: I have banned ''Hammer" from the forum because he was just here to cause trouble and did not show any signs of being open to a respectful discussion. However I have not deleted his post above, because these are things that have in fact been decre...

yes, there are many important streams in Judaism that believe in reincarnation. In case that wasn't clear, our interest and appreciation for Judaism at 'Catholics for Israel' obviously doesn't mean that we accept or agree with all beliefs and practices of rabbinical Judaism.

yes Cherie, it's sad, but I know many Messianic Jews who think like that, and it seems nearly impossible to get through to them. Did you direct your friend to our website?

hi Rob, though there is certainly a lot of troubling things happening in the Church nowadays, we can rest assured that the Lord has promised that the gates of hades will not prevail against the Rock of Peter. In other words, this is a divine promise from the Lord himself that the pope could never be...

I think Anders' post is meant to be confusing Cherie. I wouldn't let it trouble you, I'm not sure what he's saying either. He doesn't seem to be here for a dialogue but rather for preaching strange views.
