Re: Kairos Document

On closer examination it appears that the Kairos document is not really an official document but deceptively poses as some kind of official voice of the churches in the Holy Land, whereas it is really a relatively private initiative. Kairos Document

A new user has posted a comment on the recently published 'Kairos Document' by the leaders of the Church in Israel. http://www.kairospalestine.ps/sites/default/Documents/English.pdf I have moved it here so that it can be treated as a separate topic for discussion. Personally I think this document is...

Re: Apostolic succession

hi Eli, I continue to find this discussion very interesting, and you raise once again important issues. Regarding what you call the "Catholic attitude." The Catholic Church invites all people to partake of the Eucharist, and we long to arrive at this fullness of communion where we can shar...

Re: Apostolic succession

hi Eli, thanks for your reply. 1) some of the historical evidence is found in the links that I added in my last post. The is an inherent problem in your argument: if anyone could celebrate the Eucharist, then the priesthood would be completely unnecessary and meaningless. Why have ordained priests a...

Re: The Church Fathers and The Jews

No it's not a mistranslation. The text is correct, but Jesus here is not speaking to ALL the Jews in general but specifically to the group of leaders who were opposing his ministry. This is a known issue about the Gospel of John - "the Jews" do not mean all Jews but probably the Judeans wh...

Re: Apostolic succession

shalom Eli and welcome to the Catholics for Israel forum, What you are writing is wonderful and very encouraging. I can tell you have thought about these issues quite seriously, and your question about apostolic succession and the Eucharist is a very good and important one. The Catechism of the Cath...

Re: The Church Fathers and The Jews

no problem photios,
I can't recall offhand a specific non-Christian source for the early Jewish persecution of Christians, but that must not be very hard to find. Anyone else?

Re: Who could I possibly turn to?

shalom Tyrone, we would like to help but unfortunately we don't even have enough money to keep ourselves running. Why don't you speak to the Patriarchate? They are usually the ones responsible for Christian education. http://www.lpj.org/ Or you may want to try the Hebrew-Catholic Vicariate, though I...

Re: The Church Fathers and The Jews

hi Photios, Your questions are good and legitimate. A few comments on my part: I even pray to the Holy Virgin asking that she will save me from my sins I would exercise caution with making such statements, because it is inaccurate and one of the chief points with which non-Catholics or anti-Catholic...

Re: Boycott Israel!

fair enough Hadassah.

It's definitely satirical and probably not to everyone's taste. Still, I don't think it does any demonization but merely points out the ridiculous aspect of the demonization of Israel while closing a blind eye to people who are much more dangerous.

Boycott Israel!

Here is a rather amusing satirical video that someone sent me.
If you are ever tempted to boycott Israel, you better be ready to change your lifestyle. :)
Enjoy.

Re: A comment on an excellent article of yours

Shalom Justin and welcome, There's an idea present in your article that seems to suggest that the New Covenant is something to still be hoped for. Actually no, we don't suggest that at all. The New Covenant has certainly come in its fullness and Yeshua does reign in the Eucharist. All we are saying ...

Re: Will Israel Take Me?

Glory - your suggestion is optimistic, but it seems to me a little too close to wishful thinking. On what basis are you making this suggestion? How aware are you of the reality of immigration in Israel for believers? Things have gotten considerably more difficult in the last years for believers to i...

Re: Rabbinical Catholicism?

no I wouldn't say that. Can the universal message of the Gospel be seen as something which has little or no effect on the particular way in which Israel is obedient to the Lord? Absolutely not. On the contrary, the message of the Gospel has everything to do with how Israel is obedient to the Lord. N...
